Last Wednesday, Singapore Fashion Week began on a very seductive note with the opening show of the well-known Belgian- American fashion designer, Diane von Furstenberg (DVF).
Naming the collection as "Seduction", Diane introduced us to a powerful woman who lives her life like a double agent. "She can go to a board meeting and wear a pinstripe dress with a little chiffon pinstripe and then, at night, she can inspire fantasy". That message was clearly sent to us through the 37 designs in her Fall collection. There are masculine electric blue suits and jersey wrap dresses for a woman at work. Then, there are cut-outs , with plunging v-neck , and sensuous lace and scarlet satin materials for a woman at night. According to Diane: "Seduction is like a mystery. Lace is a mystery. And to mix the lace and the masculine is like tongue and cheek. It's like Yin and Yang. And that's fun to be a woman".
I have never felt so strongly inspired and moved while watching a collection on the runway before. I was so fortunate to be able to watch my favorite designer's show up close and I finally found the woman who I wanted to be. She is a DVF woman. She is fun, chic, effortless, strong, powerful, and of course, seductive.
Diane has successfully seduced all of us, from the beautiful collection on the runway to the lace wallpaper on the stage. Especially with the song "Earned it" playing continuously, a soundtrack from the most talked-about movie, Fifty Shades of Grey , there wasn't anything more seductive than that.
Thank you so much for reading!
