Sometimes, I find it more difficult to dress up for the weekends than the weekdays. How to look completely relaxed, comfortable and yet chic is a tough job. Whenever I need some inspirations for a casual outfit, my go to place will always be Forever21. Whether they sponsor for the Herworldplus Social Media Awards that I'm nominated for or not, it's the truth. They have the latest trends, gorgeous items, and super chic accessories that save me a lot of time thinking about how to style each piece. 

Forever21 denim skirts or shorts, crop tops, cute graphic tees are my favorite weekend pieces, but I also love their stylish range of outerwears and sweaters this season. Especially when it comes to traveling, nothing makes an airport attire chicer than a pair of white sneakers paired with denim jeans and a light trench coat. I have already mapped out what I wanted to wear for my flight coming up in a few weeks, as you can see. I thought I should give you another version of the white sneakers with a denim skirt and sweatshirt for a casual weekend. It was a chilly and rainy morning when I had these photos taken. It made my outfit become so weather-appropriate. Even if the temperature doesn't drop below 25 degrees Celcius in Singapore, it's still ok to wear this sweatshirt, thanks to its light material. 

Besides, who couldn't say no to those adorable "Eyes" trying to tell me to be cool and by the way, that's what the weekend is all about, isn't it?

All thanks to Forever21

It was just last week when I shared with you about the 2015 Social Media Awards that I was nominated in, today it's already the second week of 2016. Where has the time gone? Sometimes, it's scary to think of how fast time flies. It never waits for anyone. With time running like a bullet train, it sweeps us into its vortex and often makes us forget about the simplest things in life. 

One of my 2016's resolutions, which I'll be sharing more in the next couple of blog posts, is to find time to smell the roses. Before I reveal my full list of New Year resolutions, allow me to share my last achievement of 2015. The Social Media Awards that I was nominated last month.  

One of the requirements of the awards is to style a black and white outfit in our own way. I had this photoshoot done before the New Year but wanted to reserve it for the first post of 2016. I believe it's always good to start the New Year with a simple, fresh and clear state of mind. The same rule applied to my outfit. That explains why I subconsciously chose to wear black and white on the first working day of the year. Same thing happened last January.

Thanks to Forever21! 

I remember so clearly 6 years ago when I first started working in Singapore, I was struggling to survive in a new country, all by myself, with an entry level job. No friends, no family. Just me finding a way to adapt to a new environment while thinking of how to live by with a couple of hundred dollars a month in my pocket. Every time passing by Forever21 on my way home, I had to remind myself not to be tempted by the gorgeous dresses displayed in the window. I didn't want to step inside as I was afraid that I couldn't help but bring them home. The beautiful clothes were my one week's worth of meals. I couldn't afford it. I made a promise to myself that when I made more money, I'd come to Forever21 and buy all the clothes that I'd ever wanted. 

Fast forward 6 years later, not only have I fulfilled the promise I made to the younger me, but I also reached many milestones in my life and career. Being a fashion blogger was one of them. Being one of the top 4 finalists of the Social Media Awards, organized by Herworld, is another achievement that I'd like to share with you. It's always so overwhelming to be noticed and recognized. But this award is also meaningful to me as my all time favorite brand Forever21, is the main sponsor. It would be nice if I can have your vote.

Last weekend, I had a wonderful time playing dress up in Forever21 to pick out my favorite 3 outfits. I'll be sharing more in the upcoming blog posts. For now, here is an outfit idea for you working ladies.

One of the interesting questions that I've been asked recently is "How do you know which dress or skirt to pick among hundreds of items in a clothing store?". This leads me to think: How do you usually shop for clothes? Do you buy new arrival items or do you select the past seasoned ones? Do you plan on what to buy before going to a store or just go with the flow?

Whenever I go shopping for clothing, I always bring my SCMDP rules which stand for Silhouette, Color, Material, Detail, and Price with me. Sticking to these rules save me time from getting distracted by hundreds of other items on the rack.  Any clothes that have beautiful silhouette like this dress, gorgeous color like this skirt, or outstanding details like the shift dress from FewModa that I'm wearing here will attract me instantly.

Finding a perfect dress is not difficult as long as you know what dress silhouette work best for your body shape or size and what color will compliment your skin tone.
