DUO COLOR BLOCK

DUO COLOR BLOCK

Once a year, I'd like to dedicate at least one outfit post to a very special guest on this blog.  He is a supermodel in the making. I always call him as a little fashionable monster, a cuddle puff, or a chubby pie. At 3 years old, he already has 15 pairs of shoes, a wardrobe full of clothes, 10 pairs of sunglasses, and accessories. He first appeared on my blog when he was only 2 years old. You can view the photos in the previous blog entries (here and here) to see how well he posed.

If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you probably know who is this little "gangster" that I'm talking about. He is Miu- my extremely cute, smart, and adorable nephew. He loves wearing nice clothes and loves being photographed as much as his aunt does. That's why it's so fun to bring Miu out for a photo shoot with me.

On the first day of Lunar New Year, we went to a park to have our outfit photos taken. The weather was not as freezing as it was supposed to be. I chose to wear a thin turtleneck sweater with sheer midi skirt and layered with a chiffon scarf and a tweed coat. Miu dressed in a V-neck sweater, denim pants, aviator sunglasses, and leather loafers. We were accidentally in color-blocking coordination. I wore white and burgundy (warm tone), he put on yellow and navy blue (cool tone). It took me a  while to get Miu to concentrate on the camera as he was distracted by the other kids running around. But once he started following me and my photographer's instruction, he was such a joy to shoot.

This is by far my most favorite outfit post of the year because of him.

Have you ever done a photo shoot with your kid, niece, or nephew before? Shooting kids is so challenging because they are so active and they don't really care what the adults are doing (lolz). How do you keep them to stay focused?

Thank you so much for reading!

#NYFW: PORSCHE DESIGN F/W 2015

#NYFW: PORSCHE DESIGN F/W 2015

Nobody can deny the fact that Porsche Design is a master of bold, strong, futuristic, and sophisticated fashion. If September last year, Porsche Design senior fashion designer Pierre Costin gave the audience a goosebump with his "Zentech" collection, this February, he continued to impress us with the "U/Dys- Topia" collection. The designer went dark for this season, offering us a new take on the modern uniform, using cutting-edge fabrics, and construction techniques to create a strong yet sensual silhouettes for women and structured textured looks for men.

Playing with the most neutral colors: black, camel, grey, and army green, Pierre Costin reminded us of how powerful basic colors can be through his collection. It's the type of clothes that confident people love wearing. For women, he focuses on a sexy shape with a strong shoulder and nipped waist. A corset belt is seen throughout the show, being paired with an oversized wool coat, midi skirt, and cropped pants to emphasize the hourglass silhouette.  For men, on the other hand, the designer works his magic on structure, texture, and layering. From a quilted vest to banded blazer, from a leather trench coat to a grey pants suit, everything has some futuristic elements going on.

From the firs time I watched the show in New York Fashion Week 2014, I knew Porsche Design will continue making great clothes that give a wearer a sense of self-confidence and strength. This Fall-Winter collection is a perfect example proving my point.

Have a look!

Thank you so much Porsche Design for having #TeamCrystalPhuong in your show!
Thank you so much for reading, everyone!

TRAVEL IN STYLE

TRAVEL IN STYLE

It's official! This will be the first airport outfit I feature on this blog. Ever! More often than not, people think of flying as the worst time ever. Getting cramped up in a narrow seat for many hours is no fun, especially when we go for a long haul flight. Besides, there is no need to impress anybody on the airplane. Thus, most people give themselves an excuse to be ugly. By "ugly", I mean no makeup, bad hair day, and even no proper attire (I've seen people flying in their pajamas before).

Well, the truth is, you don't have to wear deep V-neck bodycon dress with sky high stilettoes when you travel, but at least, put something on that is comfortable, casual, and chic. My favorite airport attire, when I'm traveling to summer destinations are either boyfriend jeans, T-shirts or maxi dresses, and flat sandals. Otherwise, when I'm heading to a winter wonderland, sweaters, denim jeans or sweatpants, leather jackets, and sneakers would be my picks.

I wore this outfit when traveling to Hanoi last Tuesday. It's winter in Hanoi right now, I prepared a light trench coat to keep me warm on the airplane and for when I landed. The rest of the outfit was pretty casual with sweaters, denim jeans, and Chloe Susanna ankle boots. Other items that I can't leave home without are my Valentino crossbody bag, Phillip Lim Pashli bag, hand carry luggage, a pair of sunglasses, and (once in a while) a fedora hat to make me feel a little bit more fanciful.

What do you think of this airport style? What will you wear when you travel?

Thank you so much for reading!

#NYFW: BCBGMAXAZRIA FALL 2015

#NYFW: BCBGMAXAZRIA FALL 2015

New York Fashion Week was just over, but everyone is still talking about it. I was not able to attend NYFW this time, but my partners (Gustavo and Ashley) were to there to capture the best moments of fashion week on the runway. I was so grateful to receive many invitations from some beloved brands. I didn't have to apply for a press credential like the first time. Gustavo- my photographer and partner, ran around in snowy New York city, to attend 18 shows in total. That's a crazy amount of fashion shows in just a few days.

There were many amazing shows this year. I'll try to cover as many as I can on this blog, so please do come back and check them out. The first show, that we are so excited to share with you during fashion week, is none other than BCBGMaxazria Fall 2015.

I've been a huge fan of BCBGMaxazria for a long time. She keeps getting better and better in every collection and every season. This February, Lubov Azria amazed the audience, once again, with her "feast of textures" collection with lots of rich colors, incredible details, and amazing workmanship. It was a party of striking outerwear, fluffy fur sleeves and pockets, vibrant color-blocks, geometric designs, and intricate embroidery and patchworks. All of these were influenced and inspired by beautiful artistry in Lubov's recent trip with her husband to Barcelona and the northern Baltic countries.

It is such a fun, feminine, and versatile collection. At the same time, it doesn't lose the California bohemian vibe that the designer always loves. It was eye-catching and so BCBG!

Below are some of the looks that I fell completely head over heel in love with. Which is your favorite?
