SAMSUNG FASHION STEPS OUT 2015

SAMSUNG FASHION STEPS OUT 2015

Last Saturday, Orchard Road came to life and turned into one-of-a-kind fashion runway for the most anticipated fashion show of the year: Samsung Fashion Steps Out (FSO). 176 models strutted down closed Orchard road, wearing the latest Spring/ Summer outfits of local and international designers including Max Tan, Pauline Ning, Depression, Francis Cheong, Pleatation (Singapore), Mary Katranzou, Ashley Isham (London), Moiselle (HongKong), Germain (France), Aimer (China), Paul Nethapol (Thailand), Sean & Sheila (Indonesia), and Fox (Israel).

It was my third year attending Fashion Steps Out. Each year, the event brought me a brand new experience. This year Fashion Steps Out returns in conjunction with the launch of Samsung Galaxy S6 4G+ and Galaxy S6 edge 4G+. I still remember when I attended Fashion Steps Out 2013, Samsung just launched Samsung Galaxy S4 LTD. That's how much (and fast) the brand has evolved to bring us the latest technology. Besides a few well-known international designers, FSO also welcomes local designers to showcase their collection in a decoration of SG50 (Singapore's 50th Anniversary). It's a double celebration no less.

As expected, FSO was spectacular in many ways: the most famous location (Orchard Road), the longest catwalk (550 meter), the most crowded audience (thousands of tourists and residents), the biggest brand (Samsung), and the most special occasion (SG50). It was meaningful, memorable and very well-organized. Not to mention there was a long list of many talented designers. I almost screamed when I saw Mary Katranzou's collection on the runway. She is one of my most favorite designers whom I'm dying to meet. Besides Mary Katranzou's collection, there were many beautiful designs on the runway that I'm obsessed with.

Below are some photos I took during the fashion show. Have a look!

If you weren't at Orchard Road last weekend to witness this once a year event, you can still catch the 50 special looks created by local designers through the SG Next50: Fashion Futurism exhibition at Paragon Atrium 1 from 17th April to 24th May 2015.

BACK TO BALI

BACK TO BALI

(This photo credits to The Royal Beach Seminyak)

Last Easter weekend, my boyfriend and I took a short trip to Bali for our getaway. If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you probably saw some photos I posted about this trip. I first went to Bali 3 years ago, and I blogged about it here and here. On the second visit, Bali gave me a whole new experience. The first time I was in Bali, I thought it was a fun and beautiful place, but I wasn't sure when would I be back there again. This time, the magical island completely stole my heart. My boyfriend even wanted to extend his stay for another week. It was his first time going to Bali.

We stayed at The Royal Beach Seminyak (TRBS), which is situated on the exclusive Seminyak Beach and surrounded by a luscious tropical garden. We love this hotel so much, more than we expected. Besides our spacious bedroom and bathroom, TRBS offers endless exotic atmosphere and luxurious experience. There are two pools in our resort, one facing the ocean and the other is in the heart of the garden, a few restaurants, spas, living rooms, gyms, and many more.

We arrived at our hotel quite late, around 9pm. Once settled down, we quickly went for dinner at the hotel restaurant and went for a walk along the beach. It was such a romantic and peaceful moment that I haven't had for a long time, exactly what I always wanted.

I woke up at 10am the next day and never felt so refreshed. While I was still worrying about wasting half of the day sleeping, my boyfriend didn't seem to care about the time. He calmed me down and reminded me that there was no need to be in a hurry. "Just relax and do what you feel like doing, we are on holiday." He made me think of my first trip in Bali, which I went with a group of friends. We woke up at 6.30am, went for a bumpy bus ride to visit so many places during the day; clothes-making village, jewelry village, painting village, elephant riding, and temple after temple. By the time we got back to our hotel, we were so exhausted. The next day continued as early as the previous one. That sounds like torture to me now.

This time, I wanted to be free and easy and enjoyed every bit of it. My boyfriend and I spent entire day 2 exploring the area that we stayed. We walked around our hotel and somehow found our way to 17 mesmerizing doors like these.

The more we walked, the more we fell in love with our hotel. Its beauty exceeded ten times of our expectation.

A huge garden as our backyard

the coolest creatures walking around. Can't get any closer to Nature than this.

After enjoying the hotel, I wanted to visit the most happening street in Bali and so we did! It took us only 15 minutes walk to the Legian street from our hotel. The weather was hot and humid, as usual. An Italian ice-cream definitely helped to beat the heat.

Or perhaps, strawberry margarita.

Legian still looks the same with many shops along the street.

Seminyak still looks beautiful compared to the first time I went.

The only thing that changed, perhaps, is me. I looked so much different compared to 3 years ago. It's crazy. Not only my look, but also my point of view changed. I paid more attention to the details, spent more time to enjoy and appreciate. Three years ago, I said: "I like Bali". Right now, I have no hesitation to say I'm completely head over heels in love with this place.

Also, I finally did some activities that I thought I would never do in my entire life. It happened on my third day in Bali, which I can't wait to share with you in the next blog post.

BORROW FROM THE BOY

BORROW FROM THE BOY

Hi everyone!

Sorry for the lack of blog posts these past few days as I was away for a short vacation in Bali, (Indonesia) to recharge myself.  I had a wonderful time there and I can't wait to share the trip with you in the upcoming blog entries. For now, here is an outfit post that I was supposed to publish before I left.

I wore this boyfriend shirt on the last working day of the week before I flew off. Every time before going on a trip, I always have so many things to do and have to run to so many meetings. That's when I need to rely on an outfit which can give me as much comfort as possible and yet still keep me looking chic and professional. I chose a boyfriend shirt for that reason and usually paired it with skinny jeans or flare jeans, like the one you see here. Besides, the polka dots on a man's shirt are the most adorable things I've seen. I couldn't resist not trying it on and the next thing I knew, I wanted to bring it home. Otherwise, my boyfriend will start noticing missing T-shirts and shirts in his closet.

In fact, I have to admit. In additional to dress shirts, I also like to raid my boyfriend's closet to find a comfortable tee shirt to wear at night despite I have so many pyjamas and sleepwear in my closet. I can't explain why. It's addictive, you know.

Do you- girl "borrow" clothes from your boyfriend, brother or dad too?

Thank you so much for reading!

INTO THE WOODS WITH JORD

INTO THE WOODS WITH JORD

There is one thing about me that you may (or may not) know and that is I love unique, quirky, and creative things. Whenever I go shopping if a salesgirl tries to sell me something by saying "This is our most popular item", she will never get the sale. Not that I make things difficult for her, but I don't like to be the same as everyone else. I get attracted easily to small little details that speak volumes about an intelligent mind of the creator or designer. That's the reason why I fell in love with JORD watches when I first heard about the brand.

The uniqueness about JORD watches is that they are all hand-crafted and made of all natural wooden materials. If you like to be in touch with nature, as much as I do, you'll probably fall in love with this watch even more. Beside the natural materials, the wonderful craftsmanship on the watch truly amazes me. I picked a Maple and Silver watch as I loved how sleek and chic it appears. It is Jord's first lady' automatic timepiece and now it's also my first automatic one.

As cheesy as it may sound, this watch is JORD's and my mutual Love. As I said, I love unique and quirky items, especially when it comes to fashion. We often think of wood as building materials, home furniture, or paper. How often do we see wood in fashion perspective? I didn't see this coming, not until I discovered JORD. How JORD team sees the connectivity between wood and fashion inspired me. They gave me an inspiration for this outfit post.

I was in an earthy mood to dress up and saw this snake-skin blouse in my closet. It was a perfect match: Snakeskin Shirt and Timber Watch. That moment, I knew exactly where I wanted to go: into the woods.

Thank you so much JORD for partnering up this blog entry!
