PASTEL AND LALANG

PASTEL AND LALANG

If you have been following my Crystal's Closet blog series, you can easily tell that I'm a colors-addict. I love experimenting with different hues to my everyday outfit. More often than not, the colors I wear represent how I feel on that particular day. When I like feel like in a business mode, I'll opt for black and white. When I'm out for fun and feeling energized, I'll go for vibrant colors. If I'm wearing pastel outfits, that usually means I'm in a "Keep Calm and Stay Cool" situation.

It's Friday today. Everyone should wind down and celebrate whatever we have achieved this week, shouldn't we? Typically on Friday or the weekend, I like wearing denim jeans and a loose shirt. I've worn this style many times here, here, and here, but never get tired of them. I love how the tight bottom, balanced with the loose top, creates a sexy-and-chill vibe. At the same time, the light yellow and turquoise color combo also helps to calm the sunny afternoon down.

I wore this outfit to my hair salon last Sunday for a hair touch-up. I've been going to Artisan Hair Salon for a year, for all my hair needs but didn't know there is such a beautiful small lalang field right behind the salon.
Speaking of lalang (scientific name is Imperata cylindrica), it reminded me of my childhood and how fun it was to play hide and seek with other kids in a big lalang field. I didn't have the chance to see, touch, and feel the lalang grass since I grew up. But that sweet memory always follows me wherever I go. That's why I was so surprised and excited to see lalang at the most unexpected place, in the heart of Singapore.

I hope the lalang grass field background and my pastel outfit brighten up your day, just like how they brightened mine. Happy Friday!

PERFECT GIFTS FOR MOTHER'S DAY

PERFECT GIFTS FOR MOTHER'S DAY

Hi everyone,
Did you notice that Mother's Day is just a few days away? It's time for us to start planning on what to buy for our mothers. Although, every mom will say something like "Don't waste your money". I'm sure they will be very happy to receive a little gift from us, knowing that we appreciate their love, sacrifice, and support.

I buy gifts for my mom every time I go home and when I travel. Or even on a normal day, when I see something nice that I know she'll like, I'll just buy it. Seeing a big smile on her face when she opens the present is so priceless. I can't even explain it.

To me, every day is mother's day. Although, I'm frustrated with her at times (I believe most of us are),  when I think one day she will no longer be with me, I'm terrified and I can't hold my tears. I told myself as long as my mom is with me, I will do anything and everything for her.

As usual, Mother's Day is, in fact, a perfect excuse for me to buy gifts for her and not being scolded for "wasting money". If you haven't had any ideas of what to buy for your mother, I've come up with a list of some perfect gifts that I'm sure your mom will like.

Have a look!

Some old photos of me and my mom that I'd love to share with you!

This photo was taken in 2012. That's how much I've changed in the last 3 years. It's crazy!

Thank you so much for reading!
Don't forget and don't be shy to tell your mom how much you love her.

VOLVO IN STYLE

VOLVO IN STYLE

Last weekend, when my parents were still around, I had a chance to drive them around the city in a new four-wheeled baby called Volvo S60 T5. It was the first time mom and dad sat in my car and I'm so glad I made their first experience memorable and sweet.  My experience was beyond perfection, not only did I have mom and dad with me, but I also had the comfort and safety that this Volvo baby offered.

I'm not going into details about the car's specifications, as I believe you can easily find that information on the internet. There was something extra added that made me impressed with Volvo S60 T5. These are security, preventive and protective safety features that give me a strong sense of protection whenever I'm behind the steering wheel. That's extremely important for me.  Although it was my first time driving a Volvo, I had the feeling like we had known each other for a long time. It's like meeting an old friend in a new place. That's how comfortable and easy driving this baby was.

While I was still thinking of how to introduce a car to my fashion blog, my mom helped by pulling out this Lipsy printed dress from my wardrobe. Then, she continued: "Now that you have the car as your best accessory, it's time to put on a perfect dress and be the successful woman you always wanted to be." That's my mother. Now you know where I get my strength and determination from. Thank you mom for always encouraging, supporting, and motivating me to achieve my dreams!

Thank you so much Volvo Singapore for partnering on this blog post! The fact that you picked my favorite car color (white) with my favorite number (07) in a car plate, without me telling you in advance, really amazed me. What an interesting coincidence! One last thing, if only this car belonged to me, for real!

LAZY LABOR DAY!

LAZY LABOR DAY!

A long weekend is here. That also means it's time to put work aside, do nothing but relax and spend our days with loved ones. I used to work 15 hours a day and spend most of my weekends blogging. I didn't have time for myself and people around me. Although I loved doing what I did, I have to say being consumed by work day and night wore me out. I always felt drained, sleepy, and exhausted. Now, I'm trying to have more quality time for myself and my loved ones while working more productively and efficiently. That's what we always call "Work- Life Balance," don't we?

With a lifestyle change, my fashion style has become more laid back as well. Instead of a t-shirt with jeans and a blazer for brunch or casual meeting, I now opt for denim shorts, spaghetti silk tops, flats or gladiator sandals to catch up with friends or watch a movie. I feel happy, alive, and free. So do my feet, after being "caged" in pointy pumps all week long. If you have never been in heels, you might not understand what I'm saying. Or perhaps, here is another simpler example. You have been working extremely hard for one year, and now you have a day off to do nothing but rest. That's how happy I feel.

Happy Labor Day everyone!

LOST IN WONDERLAND

LOST IN WONDERLAND

Can you tell that I'm a little bit overly obsessed with a one-piece garment by now? When it comes to packing light for a short getaway trip, rompers are one the few items that will always get into my must-bring list. First, they are statement pieces by themselves. Second, they save me from spending hours in front of my wardrobe trying to find what matches. Third, they are light to pack. Fourth, they are chic, cool and holiday-ready. I purposely packed 3 rompers to Bali with me but only managed to wear 2 of them as the holiday was too short (always). You can see the first one here.

On the last day in Bali, I decided to spend time exploring the other part of the hotel where we stayed. It's where all the secluded villas tucked into a beautiful garden and surrounded by many tall-tree walls. There were many small roads that led us to different doors, artistically painted and portrayed rich Indonesian culture. I had a hard time to decide a perfect spot for my outfit photo background as every corner in The Royal Beach Seminyak was picture-worthy. While I was trying to navigate my way in this wonderland, so that I didn't get lost, my dearest photographer tried to keep his camera focused on my outfit, which looked almost exactly as the colorful background.
